T

he weekend must be conjoined.
A blur of sleeping in and cake making and pub dining and watching "Hit and Run" when I should have been doing my reading.
I struggled, a bit. Saturday I missed breakfast on my way to Notting Hill – which was natural cause for alarm.
Fortunately, after meeting with the owner of my new home, we dined on onion soup and chicken salad at the cote.
The shopping that ensued was long and somewhat laborious – as shopping is always for me. I tried on a green dress, bought a candle that smelt of salted caramel, and was treated to a bite of baklava from a Greek bakery I shall certainly return to.
Meanwhile, the rain fell fiercely and unabashedly in a way that seemed distinctly vancouverian. I took the tube home in order to eat cake and watch a lecture – I mean a netflix series. I felt off.
This feeling persisted into Sunday in where I presented my olive oil apple cake (with hand whipped maple cream cheese frosting) at the baking contest. I lost. But also got a lovely afternoon with Meg touring the 1200 year old Fulham palace and walking along the river. We ate a suspicious vegan roast at a haunted pub that disturbed my stomach – leaving me bedridden for the remainder of the day. At least I did my reading.
